York-Adams League coaches select 2023 golf all-stars

The York-Adams League has announced its golf all-stars for the 2023 season.

League coaches selected an all-star team and named a Coach of the Year for all three divisions. A total of 18 players were honored (five in Division I, six in Divisions II and III), 13 of whom were also all-stars last year.

Division champions Central York, York Suburban and Delone Catholic were all represented with multiple all-stars, and each of those teams' coaches — Central's Nate Trimmer, Suburban's Dan Vanhouwe and Delone's Chuck Minchik — earned Coach of the Year honors. The Trojans and Squires won repeat division titles, while the Panthers edged past reigning PIAA runner-up Dallastown to claim the D-I crown.

After York Suburban won the league's team championship on Sept. 26, Northeastern's Caden Blanchette claimed the individual title on Sept. 28 at Briarwood Golf Club. Dallastown's Lane Krosse, meanwhile, led all Y-A golfers at the District 3 championships and tied with Central York's Dallas Inch for the low 36-hole score among local qualifiers at the state tournament. Inch turned in a dominant regular season, claiming at least a share of first place individually at all seven D-I tournaments and averaging a 67.71 to lead the Panthers past Dallastown six times.

All-stars Andrew Ekstrom, Callahan Harrell and Tate Greenplate helped lead York Suburban to a 35-1 Division II record and the league team title over Dover, which had two young players selected as well. Delone Catholic, meanwhile, outlasted York Catholic in a heated D-III race and qualified for the District 3 Class 2A team tournament as a result. Both teams had multiple players recognized as all-stars, as did Bermudian Springs.

The young talent in the York-Adams League will be on display once again in 2024, as 11 of these 18 all-stars were underclassmen this season.
