Jerrold “Jerry” Cohen, 73, beloved husband of Sharon Heiges Cohen, his wife of 53 years, died at 4:42 p.m. Sunday, April 21, 2024, at York Hospital.

Jerry was born January 13, 1951, in New Rochelle, New York, the son of the late Seymour and Sarah Cohen. He retired from Susquehanna Bank as a bank manager and later worked for AAA and Lehman Volvo in retirement. He was a very active member of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of York.

Music was Jerry’s passion. He was the lead singer and drummer for the JC Fisher Band in York for the past 16 years, continuing a life-long love of music and performing.

In his youth, he played with numerous bands and was a member of the Crossroads touring show band. He quit that gig after eight months because he didn’t like being away from home.

Jerry’s musical taste was wide and eclectic. He loved old music, classic rock, and new artists equally. He was a talented and gifted musician, born with a sharp ear. He had a great talent for creating harmonies.

Jerry loved spending time with family and friends, engaging in conversations, sharing a meal, playing card and board games, and trying new restaurants. He enjoyed traveling to new places, weekends at the beach, and visits to historic cities and sites. He loved being a father and grandfather and delighted in spending time with his daughter and granddaughters, visiting in person as often as possible and taking advantage of Face Time.

In addition to Sharon, he is survived by a daughter, Rachel A. Clemons, of Sanford, North Carolina; two granddaughters, Delaney and McKenna; a sister, Susan J. Levine and her husband, Arthur; and nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his bandmates Scott Fisher, Greg Moomaw, and Mike Argento.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, May 18, at 3:00 pm at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of York, 925 South George Street. with the Rev. Jen Raffensperger officiating. Visitation will be after the service. Workinger Semmel Funeral Homes and Cremation, 849 East Market Street, York, is assisting with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of York, 925 South George Street, York, 17403, or to the York County SPCA, 3159 Susquehanna Trail North, York, 17406.
